# Account Categories

Account Category groups accounts independently of the company-specific account name. A template line can then select “all Clients accounts” instead of listing every `411` account on every company.

CSF OHADA imports an OHADA-oriented catalogue on migrate. Existing category names are not overwritten. **Syscohada - Plan Comptable avec code** assigns these categories when accounts are created.

## Before you begin

- Ensure Chart of Accounts is setup.
- Open a sample posting account and confirm **Account Category** is set.
- You can add a new Account Category and update the accounts accordingly.

## Use categories in a template

On an Account Data row, filter Account Category you need, for example `Clients` or `Ventes de marchandises`. Prefer exact names from the catalogue. Avoid company-specific account names if the same template must run for more than one company.

If you add a child account later, give it the same category as its parent so the template picks it up without need to edit the template.

## Troubleshooting

### A line is zero although the trial balance has a balance

The posting account has no category, or the category name does not match the row filter. Use **View Account Coverage** on the template.

### Categories are missing after install

Run migrate. The catalogue is inserted then; names that already exist are left unchanged.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can one template work across companies?

Yes, when every company maps the same categories consistently. Test the output per company.

### Must I use the imported names?

Filters must match the **Account Category** value on the account. Renaming a category without updating templates will drop those lines.
